The black Reverend and Dill are with Scout and Jem. They all sit in the first row of the balcony. When Atticus leaves the courtroom, the Reverend insists that Jem and Scout stand in respect for their father.
Reverend Sykes threatened to church Lula: quote " Don't pay no 'tention to Lula, she's contentious because Reverend Sykes threated to church her." (Lee, 119)
Reverend Sykes says that it was the first time he had seen a black man win a case in a white court. He also comments on the respect shown by the spectators to Atticus Finch during the trial. Overall, he emphasizes the significance of this moment for the African American community in the town.

Reverend Sykes tells Scout her father is dying. He tells her in the court room "Stand up Ms Jean Louise, your father is passing.". This is also the time that Atticus Finch leaves the court room.

Revered Sykes is the leader of the First Purchase African M.E. Church in Maycomb, Alabama in the book To Kill A Mockingbird. He is African American or Black as some would say.
Dill and Reverend Sykes
Zeebo is Calpurnia's son in "To Kill a Mockingbird," who works as the garbage collector in Maycomb. Reverend Sykes is the minister at First Purchase African M.E. Church, where Calpurnia and the Finch family worship.
