FTL in almost any sci-fi setting stand for Faster Than Light. This typically refers to either travel (IE warp drive, hyperspace, space folding) or communication (IE subspace transmission). FTL is also commonly referred to as hyper-luminous or superluminal travel or communication.
In Battlestar Galactica they "spin up the FTL drive" as a form of charging or preparing the Faster Than Light travel capability of their ships. Although this process is never explained in detail, it is assumed that the FTL drives in BattleStar Galactica operate on a function of folding space to achieve FTL travel.
In the re-imagined series (2003 onwards), the Battlestar Galactica has flight pods on both side, which retract during FTL jumps.
Zac - Battlestar Galactica - was created in 1978.
In the reimagined "Battlestar Galactica" series, the titular ship can reach speeds of up to FTL (Faster Than Light) travel using its FTL drives, allowing it to jump vast distances across space almost instantaneously. While the exact speed in conventional terms isn't specified, these jumps enable the Galactica to evade threats and traverse the galaxy efficiently. In normal space, its sublight speed is significantly slower, comparable to that of advanced spacecraft in its universe.
There are no aliens on Battlestar Galactica. There are humans and cylons.
