Stradlater thinks the composition is not good because it does not follow the assignment instructions. He criticizes Holden for going off-topic and not focusing on the description of a room as he was asked to do.
chicken nuggets.
Holden tore up the composition because he became frustrated and angry when he found out that Stradlater had taken Jane Gallagher out on a date. He felt hurt and betrayed by his friend's actions and couldn't bring himself to give him the composition.
Holden wrote a composition about his brother Allie's baseball glove for Stradlater, but Stradlater ended up criticizing it. This led to a physical fight between Holden and Stradlater in J.D. Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye."
Stradlater criticizes Holden for the composition he writes for him, as Holden had written about his own brother Allie's baseball glove and he feels the topic is inappropriate. Holden is very protective of anything related to Allie and he becomes upset and defensive when Stradlater insults his work.
He wrote about Allie'e baseball mitt. "Anyway, that's what I wrote Stradlater's composition about. Old Allie's baseball mitt."
Stradlater went on a date with Jane and Holden got jealous at the thought of what they possibly could have done! Holden also asked Stradlater to ask Jane if she still keeps her kings in the back row, and Holden doesn't think he did.

Stradlater punched Holden because Holden was hitting him as well. kept calling Stradlater a moron even though he warned Holden to stop many times. ( i also think its a pet peeve or something because in the book, it said "All morons hate it when you call them a moron."[ch. 6])
Holden is bombarding Stradlater with questions about Jane because he knows Stradlater is a womanizer. Stradlater refuses to tell Holden what had happened, so Holden hits Stradlater in the face. Stradlater then pins him down to floor and tells him repeatedly to shut up. Holden continues calling him a "goddam moron" until Stradlater is so infuriated that he knocks Holden to the ground hard enough to make his nose bleed.
