A ring as a form of marital promise
Belle had seen that the Young Scrooge had another idle in his heart - money
Ebenezer Young died in 1851.
Ebenezer Young was born in 1783.
It was an engagement to marry
He was engaged to Belle but Belle saw Scrooges love of money talking over and "released him" from his promise. He did not marry after that
The name of Scrooge's fiancee was Belle -- he never married. They apparently became engaged while Ebenezer was an apprentice at Fezziwig, and maintained their engagement over his early years of acquiring wealth. However, she broke their engagement after she realized that Scrooge loved money than he loved her. Belle asked the young Ebenezer point blank whether he would want her as a wife now, knowing that he would get no dowry money for doing so. Ebenezer chose not to say he would do so, which was (unfortunately) the honest answer.
No one. Scrooge didn't have another woman in his life after Belle returned his ring. She later marries and has children.
Fan is the name of Ebenezer Scrooge's sister. She is described as a kind and loving character in Charles Dickens' novel "A Christmas Carol."
In the story "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge's lost love is named Belle. She was his fiancée in the past, but they separated due to Scrooge's growing obsession with money and his neglect of their relationship.
Scrooge's ex-fiancee Belle said they couldn't stay together because Ebenezer had another idol in his heart, a golden one (money)
Scrooge was engaged to "Belle" who never rated a last name in the story. They break up over his love of money. In the book and the 1935 movie "Scrooge" with Seymour Hicks we are shown Belle, her children and her husband living happily without him. In the 1951 "Scrooge" with Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge, she lives out her life working with the poor (marital status unknown).Strangely enough after the ghostly revelation that she is alive and well in London and his reordering of his priorities, he never seeks her out to renew the relationship. Some movie adaptations show Belle being one of Fezziwig's daughters.
He is betrothed to Belle, but she breaks the engagement because he has grown to love money more than anything else.
