What happened to Tara in torn by cat Clarke?

In Torn, Alice, Cass, Polly and Rae all take Tara out of her bed and tie her to a tree. They talk in deep voices, just trying to scare Tara as punishment for being mean to them. They are unknown to the fact that Tara is a Asthma suffer. Alice and Rae run back to their room to get Tara's inhaler but when they return, Tara has died. The death was accidental, yet the girls refuse to tell anyone and dumped Tara's body in a nearby well. It was not found and police said she probably drowned since the girls placed some of Tara's belongings hear the lake. Alice then is haunted by Tara's spirit.

Later on Alice, Cass and Polly are told that Rae has committed suicide by overdose. They know that it was due to th

e guilt.

Alice starts a relationship with Tara's younger brother, going as far as sex before admitting to the crime, she then tells her dad, who is overprotective since the death of Alice's mother. He is against the idea of Alice informing the police, for he is unsure what he would do if she went to jail. Yet once in her room, she calls the police. Tara's spirit once again visits, but as a 10 year old girl.

As young girls, Tara and Alice were best friends, yet since they were unpopular, when a party was announced they were the only ones not invited. Tara was unaffected by the news yet Alice was so embarrassed that she dumped Tara and got invited to a sleepover. On the night of the party, Alice's mum told her that she has cancer. She died later.

Alice asked the police (with her eyes closed) if she could speak to detective inspector Marshall, the man who inspected the crime scene. When she opens her eyes, Tara's spirit is gone. Alice says she does not think she will be back.
