What happens at the end of Far North?

OK. Basically, Sean Bean has met these two women living in isolation in the arctic tundra, both like him, he chooses one, they get it on, they are going to leave to start a family. The day before they leave Sean Bean is out hunting or whatever, the woman who he didn't choose kills the other one, cuts her face off, and puts it over her own face to try and seduce Sean bean when he comes back. It's pretty disturbing, even more so considering that the woman basically adopted the woman who she kills when she was a baby, and raised her, etc so is basically her mother.
