In the end of "The Big Burn" by Jeanette Ingold, the main character, Kate, successfully overcomes her fears and insecurities by helping to fight a forest fire. She gains a sense of empowerment and confidence. The story ends with Kate feeling a sense of accomplishment and personal growth.
