Atticus remains calm and composed when Scout runs to him at the jail, despite the tense situation with the mob. He is relieved to see her but also tries to protect her by keeping her away from the dangerous situation unfolding.

Scout, Jem, and Dill are hiding and watching Atticus at the Maycomb jail, and when Scout notices that the men seem harsh and wanting to hurt, she runs through the crowd to stop them. Then she starts randomly conversing with the only person she knows in the mob, Will Cunningham. Shortly after, they all leave.
Atticus hopes to prevent Jem and Scout from catching the disease by living out the ideals of a non-racist way of life. In addition, he tells them that he'll answer any questions they have so that they don't hear things from the town. He also explains to them how unfair the disease is.
Calpurnia runs to the Radley's house and knocks on the front door shouting to them about the mad dog. This prompts Scout to point out to Jem that Calpurnia is supposed to go around to the back.

Dill runs away from home in Chapter 14 of "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. He arrives in Maycomb during a storm and hides under Scout's bed until Atticus finds him.

-When Dill arrives in Maycomb and introduces himself to Jem and Scout-When Jem and Scout find items consisting of gum, a spelling bee medal, a gold broken watch and chain, and wood-carved miniatures of Jem and Scout within the hole of the tree on the corner of the Main Residential street.-When Jem, Dill and Scout follow Atticus into town to find him guarding the jail and protecting Tom Robinson from the gang trying to kill him. This is a critical moment because the gang would have tried to harm Atticus as well if Scout hadn't have run over and talked to Mr. Cunningham. This action in itself gets the gang to leave.-The fire that starts at Mrs. Maudie's house and almost spreads down the Main Residential Street.-When Jem, Scout and Dill sneak into the Radley yard and get shot at. Scout and Dill make it out however Jem gets stuck and gets his pants stuck on the fence. Jem leaves them and runs home. When he comes back they're nicely stitched and hung on the fence this shows Boo Radley's kindness.-When Mrs. Dubose calls Atticus a "negro lover" when Jem and Scout walk by her home, because of this crude remark Jem goes off to town and buys tree clippers to clip the tops off her flowers in anger.-When Aunt Alexandra arrives in Maycomb to make Scout more of a lady.-The trial of Tom Robinson.-When Tom Robinson "trys to escape" the prison and is killed by being shot 17 times.-When Jem and Scout are stalked by intoxicated Mr. Ewell and attempted to be killed. Luckily, Boo saves the day and kills Mr. Ewell before he could kill Jem and Scout.or=== On the way home from the Halloween pagaent, Scout and Jem were attacked by Bob Ewell, but Boo Radley killed Bob and saved the kids=== Scout walks Boo home, but never saw him again due to his shyness.===
