Well really, there is quite an obvious difference. A description uses about a page or paragraph and describes something, setting a scene maybe but getting nowhere else.
A story has a storyline, a plot. It has been planned out and lasts a lot longer than a description.
But, both are gripping and exciting - don't worry - I can see why you're asking, I am an author so i thought this might be a help. Don't rely too much on me though I'm not that professional.
