Carter (14) and Sadie (12) Kane are brother and sister magicians who have been separated for 6 years after their mother died in a tragic accident. Their dad, Julius, takes Carter and picks up Sadie from his in-laws house and takes them to a museum and says he'll "set things right". Carter and Sadie watch from the background as their father tries to contact Osiris. Instead, he releases all of the gods born on the demon days (Osiris, Horus, Set, Isis, and Nepthys). Set kidnaps their father and traps him in a magic coffin. Carter and Sadie are rescued by their Uncle Amos and magically brought them and Sadie's cat, Muffin, to New York. The House soon realizes that they are hosting the gods Horus and Isis and hosting Gods is considered illegal. Zia makes them escape to Paris to find Bast waiting for them.
