I think that is the theme because it says in the poem that the reason annabel died was because the angels were jealous of the love they had because it was so strong. So the angels killed her by chilling her to death. But it even if she died he never forgot her. And in the poem itself it says that their love was so strong no one or nothing couold ever separate their souls. So even if she died he always had her in his heart and eventually when he died he would meet her in heaven.
