What is the relationship between the Bull and William Dee in the Field by John B Keane?

They hate eachother.. Bull has the grazing of an old widows field for 5 years and when she decides to sell it everyone in Carraigthomond step down because they are afraid of Bull. Bull also bullies or threatens Mick Flanagan (The local auctioneer and owner of the village pub) to not post the bills out and he pays him not to. But William Dee an Englishman comes to Carraigthomond to bid for the Field. He's a very rich businessman. Bull is raging about this and warns him off and numerous occasions but William is having none of it.. So one day Bull and his clone of a son Tadhg decide to give Dee a "fright" and wait by the field one night when he goes to look at it. They hide in a ditch and jump out at him. They warn him to back off but he doesn't back down to Bull and Tadhg bully tactics. They then start hitting and kicking him but when bull thinks it's time to back off a bit Tadhg gets in "one crucial kick to the head" that kills William Dee. Bull then kneels down beside says an act of ______ <(something or other.. can't remember) and they both flee from the scene.
