The story of “How Rabbit Brought fire to the People” tells about a brave rabbit who sacrificed his life to benefit others (Welker 4). The Thunderbirds struck the island that the weasels lived on and started fire (Welker 1). He knew his tribe didn’t have fire, but he also knew that the tribe on the island across the water did, which was the Weasels (Welker 4). Nobody else had the courage to do it so the rabbit went over and when they got in a circle he had pine tar on his head and leaned over and caught fire (Welker 7). The Weasels were upset so they got in touch with the Thunderbirds to send rain (Welker 10). Fortunately, Rabbit was smart enough to put fire in a hollow tree so the tribe still had fire (Welker 11). All thanks to the rabbit, they would have fire.
