Dill's goading pushes Scout out of her comfort zone and puts her in a situation that goes against her instincts to respect others' privacy and boundaries.

Thinking that there could be trouble, Atticus goes to the jail the next night, but doesn't realize Jem, Scout, and Dill have followed him. A group of men show up and gather around Atticus in a threatening way. Scout, Jem, and Dill run over to where Atticus is sitting. The men tell Atticus to send the kids away, but Mr. Cunningham shows up and tells the men to leave.
