What is love? What would you do to be close to someone you love? Do you love yourself? Cyrano de Bergerac's main problem is that he doesn't have enough love or faith in himself and his abilities. My belief: yes, there is the obvious love for a woman and great lengths are gone to in order to express it; however, a little risk is required in order to pursue it for ourselves.
Personally, it's a reflection on society today that still holds true. Is beauty only skin deep? Would she have fallen in love with Cyrano if he delivered those most poetic words. Ask Milli Vanilli. Those two (or shall I say four) might provide further insight.
I believe that would be Mr. Jose Ferrer, for the 1946 play and 50's film "Cyrano De Bergerac.
