Vlad was by birthright, the prince of Wallachia, which he reigned from 1456 to 1462 until he was captured and replaced by his brother "Radu the Handsome". He was duely noted for his atrocious battle techniques, and showed favor to analy impalling through the body and out the mouth. Forests of people on long poles were scattered throughout Turkish battlegrounds. He was later captured in 1462 and held prisoner until 1474, two years later he reconquered Wallachia
