The revelation is ironic because the necklace that Mathilde borrowed and believed to be valuable was actually a fake, not the expensive piece she thought she had lost. This twist in the story highlights the themes of appearance versus reality and the consequences of vanity and greed. It underscores the idea that the perceived value of material possessions can lead to ruin, as Mathilde and her husband experience the devastating consequences of their actions.
Mme Loisell, who borrows the thing from her (friend) Mme Forestier- which means Forester. Parks would not be a bad translation. In a sense MMe Forestier is the antagonist, though fatal pride- and maybe alcohol played a role. I think she ( Loisell) was drunk when she lost the necklace at the party.. and waited too long to report it... that would explain why she did not call up MMe Forestier when she first noticed the item ( which she believed to be worth 60 Grand plus) was missing.

Oho! Aha! Wow!
No, Paul's reaction to the events in the story does not surprise us. His actions and decisions are consistent with his character traits and the circumstances he is facing.
Yes and no, a kind of moralistic- anti-materialism parable. Much of the problems arising from the loss of the (actually valueless) article could have been averted with a timely phone call from MMe Loisel to Mme Forestier ( which means Forester or maybe Parks). Exactly how the necklace was lost is not gotten into in detail- one wonders if Mme Loisel ( pronounced Law=Zell) had been drinking at the party ( it happens) there are no direct hints of crime. If she and her husband called up the leading Cab Companies ( in a big city like Paris this could be a costly task!) why the Heck did she not notify MMe Forestier immediately after the loss- MMe Forestier would then explain, if she had a conscience- that the item was costume jewelry, and no big deal. Social-problem short stories of this type influenced a number of crime and other dramas. Often Confederate money was an ironic prop! ( all of the money was Confederate- now a commercial from the Heart Fund! The Confederate money angle was used in a number of adaptations by O.Henry and others.- one adopted in to a Superman plot. ( The Overcoat). in that all lead characters male. I didn"rt really like the story- but, well lilke an old song ( It haunted me from the Start!)
as long and at the end fire just burning with everyone gasping in surprise.
Mathilde from The Necklace is complex because she is not a one dimensional character. She is a round character who is not stereotypical and struggles with her own motives.
MMe Forestier. She should have informed Matilde FROM THE START ( This is a wearing copy, not the real thing). This would have avoided a $40-60 grand crash dive!. Maybe alcohol was involved. This would explain why Mme Loisell ( lead character) did not phone ( phones were extant at the time of the story- this being up-beat Paris, not some suburban Green acres den)- if she had gotten tanked at the party- she was in no position to intelligently converse with her friend on the phone. Alcohol as well as fatal pride may have been involved.
I have seen many players wear cord- like necklaces that are supposed to rid the body of nerves.
The revelation is updated often, it is very possible that by the time anyone reads this, we will have been enlightened with new revelation. But our leaders are constantly giving us principles or reminding us of old ones. Unfortunately, you need to specify this question. The latest revelation is a too wide a subject to explain. Is it the newest speech or lecture given by our leaders? Is it the most recent and significant?
It's probably a Phiten Necklace...made with titanium, and claims to provide health benefits, energy, etc... http://www.phitenusa.com/
