The Yukon. Watch the movie (A Cry in the Wild).
In the evening while flying to his dads house.
The protagonist in "Hatchet," Brian Robeson, was flying in a Cessna 406 when the pilot had a heart attack and the plane crashed.
He was in the middle of the Canadian Wilderness, if that's what you're talking about..
After the plane crashed in the book "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen, Brian survived in the wilderness using his wits and finding ways to stay alive. He built a shelter, made tools, and learned how to find food and make fire. Brian also dealt with challenges such as a tornado and a moose attack before being rescued.
Brian manages to crawl out of the plane through a broken window after remembering that he saw a survival pack with a hatchet in it before the crash. He uses the hatchet to break the glass and escape the wreckage.
