No. Don Quixote never really existed. However, everything in the novel Don Quixote by Cervantes is true. A good novel takes a number of truths about human nature and puts them together in one story. In one instance rich Don Quixote raved about the wonderful life the shepherds lead living in the great outdoors. The destitute shepherds had a different idea. There are still people arguing that people living outdoors in poverty like it that way. They do not ask the modern destitute people what they would prefer. The destitute shepherds did not like living the way Don Quixote wanted them to live. No. There never was a real Don Quixote. Yes. Everything in the novel continues to happen. Look around you.
