The "Four Horsemen" are:-

  1. Deception -White horse (Rev 6:2) (also referred to as False Christ; Antichrist; Conquest)
  2. War - Red horse (Rev 6:4)
  3. Famine - Black horse (Rev 6:5-6) (Sometimes known as the Horseman of Commerce. This is the guy who was selling quarts of barley for a day's wages.)
  4. Death. - Pale horse (Rev 6:8-9)

Deception or False Religion, War, Famine and Pestilence.

ANOTHER ANSWER:

It's not "who," but "what" are they.

The "Four Horsemen" of the Apocalypse [Revelation] are exposed in the 6th chapter of the book of Revelation as the "first four seals" that Jesus strips away from the "book" or "scroll." Like the other "three" of the "seven seals"... none of them are a "who"... but a "what."

They are each [or shall be in the future, as is the case of the last three, seals 5 thru 7] a GLOBAL OCCURRENCE that shall prevail on the earth, that will be signs for Christ's servants to watch for to know when Christ will return.

"The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God [the Father] gave unto Him, to SHEW UNTO HIS SERVANTS things which MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS..." (Rev.1:1 KJV)

The Seventh Seal, for instance is the only one NOT STRIPPED AWAY IN REVELATION's chapter 6. Therefore, it's the last seal, which pictures the prophesied "Day of the LORD;" the Day in which Jesus returns to take over the world, and save it and mankind from utter destruction.

The "Four Horsemen" are the first four seals, or "prevailing global conditions" that shall appertain on earth until they precipitate the "FIFTH SEAL" [the Great Tribulation; the concentrated global persecution of God's True church on earth by all the nations].

As explained above... these "prevailing conditions" on earth are "false religion" [including false Christianity], "wars" [that are more often than not begun for religious reasons; witness the global religious war going on now among the nations of the world], "famines" [which naturally follow on the heels of war, as well as irregular weather patterns, which God says He controls - see Lev.26:3-4], and "pestilences and diseases" [which also are the result of death, destruction, and the piling up of bodies].

Of these "Four Horsemen," Jesus tells us: " 'All these are THE BEGINNING OF SORROWS.'" (Matt.24:8 KJV)

These are the normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill things that make up "life on planet earth." The "Four Horsemen" have been riding back and forth across planet earth since Adam and Eve chose the god of this world to worship and obey in the Garden of Eden... instead of choosing to obey their Creator, Jesus Christ [the WORD of God - see John 1:1-3].

It's these "prevailing world conditions" of the Four Horsemen [false religion, war, famine, disease] that shall grow in terrifying intensity, as well as in man's inability to control the leaping technological advances he keeps improving on in his war-making capabilities -- until these Four Horsemen launch the world into the time of "unprecedented distress and horror" that Jesus calls: "GREAT TRIBULATION!"

"For then shall be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be [again]. And except those days SHOULD BE SHORTENED, THERE SHOULD NO FLESH BE SAVED: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." (Matt.24:21-22 KJV)

The [NLT] "New Living Translation" says: "For it will be a time of GREATER HORROR than anything the world has ever seen or will ever see again. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE WILL BE DESTROYED. But it will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones."

The [LVB] "Living Bible" says: "For there will be PERSECUTION such as the world has never before seen in all history, and will never see again. In fact, unless those days are shortened, ALL MANKIND WILL PERISH. But they will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen people."

THIS is where the Four Horsemen are leading the world, today... our world's religions, our wars, our famines and our diseases. It's all getting WORSE AND WORSE. The world population is growing; and arguing, and fighting, and starving, and suffering , and dying. The mind-boggling global economy is stretched beyond all logical limits... and can burst at any given second; sending the nations into utter collapse.

The Bible, in some prophecies, refers to the "Fifth Seal," to which these "Horsemen" are leading, as a time of "birth pains," because God's plan is all leading toward "the birth of the First Generation of His Divine Immortal Family" through the people God calls "His elect"... or "saints"... whom Jesus SHALL DELIVER!

That's why "Weymouth's New Testament" [WEY] says of the Four Horsemen: "...ALL THESE MISERIES are but THE EARLY PAINS OF CHILDBIRTH." (Matt.24:8 WEY)

That's WHAT the Four Horsemen are. They're "daily life on planet earth," that are leading the world into the "Fifth Seal" [the Great Tribulation]; the "Sixth Seal" [heavenly signs, the darkening of the sun and moon, etc.] that shall cut short the Great Tribulation from ending all life on earth; and the "Seventh Seal" [the Day of the LORD... the Day that Jesus returns to earth in His WRATH!

There are no Horsemen mentioned in Revelation 6

Its a common mistake people make to refer to horsemen, however the actual texts refers to horses specifically. Why horses? Because they were often used in battle, and very difficult and deadly for foot soldiers to fight against.

In the prophecy are given 4 horses (not horsemen)

White - Satan as the fake Jesus comes first (even his bow is called fake or toxin in the Greek)

Red - War (be careful as Christ gives you two types of war)

Antithetical war (nation or in the Greek Enos vs Ethos), Ethnic waring

Physical war (Kingdom VS Kingdom)

Black - Represents financial failure (ingredients for a loaf or bread, will cost a working mans days wage) This could be inflation, taxation, FIAT currency failure or a mixture of all. Further, refers to the two witnesses of Revelation 11

Pale (the actual Greek word is the base word for Chloroform) so its actually a pale green horse. This horse refers directly to Revelation 9 and the emergence of Satan and his locust army who will deceive all who do not have the seal of our Father in their foreheads.

Notice that in these entire series of events and all the other series of events, trumpets, Vials, there is no Rapture given. Thats because there will be no rapture according to the word.

So should you look for horses? .... These all mark events as others have stated above, which occur (actually they are occurring as we converse) they are part of the final acts of this 2nd iteration of earth (see 2nd Peter 3).

You are given 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, 7 Vials, but you are not given the 7 thunders (those are ordered to be sealed). With these 3 occurrences of 7 events, you will discover all of them occurring in sequence 6 are about the fake Jesus (or Anti Christ), and all of them occurring in sequence 7 are about the true Christ. Therefore you have 666 (Satan as Anti-Christ) and 777 (the one true Christ).

Christ will break them out again in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, where he will also identify the generation which they occur within (fig - See Jeremiah 24). That generation started in 1948. Generation lengths are given in Psalm 90 and Genesis 6) as 70, 80, and 120 years. Making the key dates 2018, 2028 and 2048, I know ... They are very close.

Remember this does not mean things will happen on a specific day, its just the timeframe of key generations that effect us living in the final generation.

Answer also: The Apocalypse, or the Revelation, is the last book of the Christian Greek Scriptures, usually called the New Testament. The ride of the four horsemen is of worldwide significance, for it is part of a "sign" marking where the human family is on the stream of time. It indicates that we are in what the disciples of Jesus called "the conclusion of the system of things." (Matthew 24:3) That it is a "sign" is stated for us in the opening verse of the Revelation, where we read: "A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented it in signs through him to his slave John."-Revelation 1:1.

The ride of the four horsemen is set forth in Revelation 6:1-8. Interestingly, whereas the New World Translation uses the expression "presented it in signs" and thus corresponds with Rotherham's The Emphasised New Testament, the expression "signified it" is used by the King James Version, or Authorized Version of 1611, B. Wilson's The Emphatic Diaglott and Young's Literal Translation of the Holy Bible. True to those introductory words, the last book of the Bible, the Revelation, is just full of signs, symbolisms significant of things of far greater importance in human history. These were to take place in the future, "shortly."

There are no historic developments to prove that those things came to reality during the 18 centuries after the death of the apostle John, about 98 C.E., and so, now, our attention focuses upon the current 20th century C.E. Doing so, we find that it has remained for us of this exciting century to enter into the happiness to which the inspired apostle pointed forward, when he wrote: "Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and who observe the things written in it; for the appointed time is near." (Revelation 1:3)

In Revelation chapter 6 appears the account of what has been called the ride of "the four horsemen of the Apocalypse." Appearing first is the rider of "a white horse," the glorified Jesus Christ, going forth to make war against his foes. This he was authorized by God to do at the end of the Gentile Times, when Jesus' foes in heaven and on earth should have submitted to his rule.-Psalm 2:1-12.

The rider on the "fiery-colored" second horse pictured international war, for a military weapon, "a great sword," was given to him. On the third mount, "a black horse," was a rider picturing food shortage. How do we know this? Because he carried a pair of scales with which to measure out basic food supplies at inflated prices. The fourth rider, on a sickly-looking "pale horse," pictured pestilence, for the account says: "The one seated upon it had the name Death. And Hades [the grave] was closely following him." True, this fourth rider was given authority "to kill with a long sword" of war "and with food shortage . . . and by the wild beasts of the earth." Notably, though, he was also authorized to make victims for the grave (Hades) by means of "deadly plague."-Revelation 6:1-8.
