To take Scrooge back home for Christmas
The Ghost of Christmas past brings Scrooge to a party at Scrooge's first employer, Mr Fezziwig's.
When Scrooge's sister visits him at school, we learn that he is lonely and doesn't have any friends. She shows him kindness and brings him home for the holidays, which highlights his need for love and companionship in his life. Her visit also emphasizes the lack of care and warmth in his current environment.
Scrooges sister comes to the Bording School to take her brotehr home for good after years of his being left there. Scrooge loved his sister Fan and when she died in child birth this was one of the tipping points that changed Scrooge in to what he was to become
Fan, his sister
Fan was Scrooges sister. Scrooge had basically been abandoned by his father in boarding school even at Christmas when everyone else was home with family - Fan talked their father in to allowing him home
According to his sister who comes to him at the school, Scrooge's father is quite abusive. We can only imagine what relief it is for Scrooge to have the relative peace and tranquility of the school as refuge. Perhaps his father realizes what a terrible home he has made for young Scrooge and is attempting to give him a better environment.
