Darcy could be considered as the hero in Pride an Prejudice. When Lydia eloped with Wickham, Darcy was the one who went and look for them and settled all the necessary problems and trouble which could have brought to the Bennets family. As a result, Elizabeth was thankful to Darcy for all that he had done for her family despite the way she treated him initially.

Not based on any book, but aspects of it are taken from Pride and Prejudice Actually, the film is based on the book of the same name by Helen Fielding, which does contain echoes of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, for example the fact that the hero has the surname Darcy.

No way! Pride and Prejudice takes place in the 19th century (For anyone who thinks the 19th century is from 1900-1999, 19th century is actually from 1800-1899) centering Elizabeth Bennet, and her family (Mr and Mrs Bennet, Jane, Lydia, Kitty; short for Katherine, and Mary). One of the best movies, and books, I've ever seen and read!! Highly recommend it!! (2005 Pride and Prejudice, starring Keria Knightley is a great one....)
because she wanted to be a hero
