Mary Jane Wilks is the eldest niece of the deceased George Wilks; sister of Joanna and Susan Wilks. She is a beautiful red-headed girl that is easily fooled. She is recognized as the typical stereotypical women of the antebellum south (Pre-Civil War South... meaning during the 1830s - 1860s when the novel took place). She is kind hearted but not very intelligent and she becomes convinced that the King is her real uncle - although he is a fraud; which the physician, Dr. Robinson, reveals to them - and not a fraud until Huck tells her the truth.

A character I'm guessing /:
I assume you're talking about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Jim's owner was Miss Watson, the sister of Huck's guardian ("the widder Douglas"). However, by the end of the novel Jim is free.
He belongs to Miss Watson at the beginning of the story. Later, when he runs away, he declares that he owns himself. However, Jim still officially is owned by Miss Watson until she dies and in her will she declares that Jim be a free man.
