George didn't invite Lennie to old Suzy's Place because he wanted to go alone to enjoy himself without having to worry about taking care of Lennie. George wanted some time to relax and be carefree, knowing that Lennie can be unpredictable and may cause trouble.

When was the setting in The Lovely Bone taken place?

It took place December 6th in the 1970s. After suzys school ended ^^^ not quite correct, sorry. Susie's murder took place on December 6, 1973, but the book spans from 1973 to 1981. The book takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania that remains unnamed, however it is called Norristown in the movie. Hope this Helps! =]
