Usually when a woman says never mind and goes silent, she's mad and no longer wants to discuss the problem.

Or she has something she wants to say, but doesnt know how. It can be an auto-correcting thing, like starting half a sentace and then stopping, trying to find a way to say it.

OR, possibly the most sane option (though least likely one) is that she just changed her mind about whatever she was going to say, and it's not really that important.

AS TO WHAT YOU SHOULD DO... You're best bet is to let it go. Whatever the reason she stopped the conversation, she DOESNT want to talk about it anymore/yet.
