Atticus says that mockingbirds harm no one, they don't eat crops. All they do is sing their hearts out, and bring joy to people. The mockingbird is suposed to represent innocence (since they do no wrong). This is supposed to link up with the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson has done nothing wrong yet he ends up dead. It is a sin to kill a mockingbird is saying it would be a sin to see someone nnocent die.
The last thing Tom Robinson said to Atticus in "To Kill a Mockingbird" was, "Goodnight, sir." This was in response to Atticus thanking him after the trial.
Atticus Finch's street in To Kill a Mockingbird is called Finch's Landing.
