Atticus did not do anything. They really couldn`t brag.
Jem wants to protect Scout from potential ridicule or challenges from peers for being seen as arrogant or superior. He also understands that their father, Atticus, values humility and modesty, and he wants to honor that by not allowing Scout to brag. After Atticus kills Tim Johnson, a rabid dog, Jem becomes more proud of his father. He realizes that his father only killed because he had to any was not a situation about which she should brag.
Atticus tells Scout to ignore Jem in the treehouse because Jem made a bad decision to disobey Atticus's instructions, and ignoring him is a consequence of his actions. Atticus wants to teach Jem about responsibility and the importance of following rules.
Atticus doesnt have many flaws but atticus lies to jem and blames jem for killing bob ewell.
