Haha ths is ironic, we just got done reading this book. I must say that this was one of my favorite books. Anyways, Jean Louise (Scout) Finch is the protagonist in the book because she sees that Boo Radley is a good person. Boo was a man who was looked on as a monster, but Scout realized that Boo was a normal person just like everyone else, just misunderstood. Another reason why she is the protagonist might be because she doesnt see black people any different than white people, unlike the Ewell's or the Cunningham's. Hope this helped!
