Hi my name is Robert Conell and as a matter a fact yes there are 16 year olds who are stable money wise and live decently because a few years ago when i was 16 i had moved out my house due to some issues with my parents. Even though it seems hard to be on your own like that at time it could be easy. you just need to know what your doing. While working 34 hours a week i also attended school. I lived in a decent apartment. i usually had some left over money to myself but i usually saved it.I would spend it ever once in awhile but i just kept it for emergency's. I hope this answers your questions.

Can you get a car loan when you're only 17 years old?

Only if you live someplace where 17-year-olds can legally enter into a contract, in other words, they are not considered minors. Otherwise you'll need an adult co-signer.

Can teenagers have bank accounts?

Yes they can. A lot of banks have accounts for children. For example, Abbey have two 'Youth Accounts', one for 11-15 year olds and one for 16-18 year olds. This isn't unusual either. RBS has an account called RBS Revolve for 11-18 year olds (which I've heard is quite good) and even has an account for 7-10 year olds, which allows them to draw up to £10 a week. I think it's a great idea! Helps children learn what money is, how quickly it goes and that it doesn't quite grow on trees! Hope this helps, Becca
