I can see no reason why a woman can not be a blacksmith if that is what she wants to do. Yes but it is rare due to the type of work involved.

The biggest thing to understand about blacksmithing is there are several ways to accomplish the same thing people with less physical strength can work with hotter steel and smaller hammers. It just means having to reheat the steel more often. One light hit from the hammer in the right place does more work that six heavy blows in the wrong place. To move large amounts of steel it can be done with a mechanical hammer then the only limitation is how big a piece of steel you can lift
