Yes, you can negotiate with a collection agency to pay what you can afford each month. Many agencies are willing to work out a payment plan that fits your budget. It's important to get any agreement in writing and to ensure that the payments are reported correctly to credit bureaus. However, be aware that the original creditor may still pursue the remaining balance.
I make $600 a month can a collection agency require a minimum of $200 a month.
NO. If you are paying a little at a time they can not garnish wages. The collection agency can not garnish your wages. The only agency that can do that is the Internal Revenue Service. It is better to pay the account in full when settleing a debt it show's on you credit report that you took a settlement. 50.00 a month try that toward your outstanding balance and pay more if you can.
Yes and it will lower your credit score. It would be best to contact them and make payment arrangements as soon as possible. However only agree to pay what you KNOW you can afford. Even if it's only $25.00 a month.
Its your choice. What amount would they get IF they garnished your wages? More or less? Do they have a judgment for the balance due? IF so, they gave you a choice.
By federal law and most collection agencies' policies, partial payments are not manditorily accpeted. Collection agencies are not required by law to accept anything less than payment in full. If the agency has refused 25% monthly of the full amount to be paid in full in four months, I reommend sending the payment with an explanation of this to the original creditor. Chances are your payment and arrangements will be accepted.

Any unpaid medical bill will remain your responsibility until it is paid in full. If you don't have insurance to pay the bill for you, then you will need to pay the bill. You can be turned over to a collection agency if the bill is not paid. Either the provider or the collection agency will work out a payment plan with you. The easiest way is to call them and let them know how much $$ per month you can afford to send until the bill is paid off.

It is important to pay bills on time, every month. A collection agency calls to help a person with their finances and with paying their past-due bill, they stop calling when it is obvious they are not getting what they need, and they need to send it to a persons credit.?æ
They can try; you can negotiate with them it what they want is just not in your range. Most will work with you - especially today. Good luck. Been there.

its a judgment not a collection agency? all i can say is check on it, also check what your state allows per-year in interest charges. you know three years ago you should have paid atlease 20.00 a month just to show your good fate, believe me in the long run the 20.00 a month would have been seen as an effort on your part.
