Points earned this year up until December 31 2013 will not expire until March 31 2014. Sony Card Holders have 5 years to use there points from the day earned but they also expire. It would be because they made a marketing decision to allow the points to reduce items prices only to a certain limit just like they require the purchase to be over $101 to use over 500 points for non cardholders.
