You can go on to your countries government site (e.g. Inland Revenue, Taxation Office) and you should be able to find out the tax withheld amounts for your pay period (weekly, monthly etc.) They are usually in PDF format - search 'tax tables'

Using your annual salary, divide this by 52 weeks or 26 fortnights or 12 months (depending how often you get paid) and using the tax table work out your approx take home pay. This will not be 100% correct due to some things like if you have superannuation rolled into your annual salary. But at least it will give you an idea until you receive your first pay check.
