If you are talking about a horse(pony) than it depends. If the pedigree is good than it could be very expensive, 10,000 or more, if the pony is your next door neighbors than it could be free. There are many places where you can lease a pony to see if a child is actually interest for the long term. This way you do not have to pay for a horse and the board before you know that the interest will stay.

Why is 500 called a monkey?

The word "monkey", most frequently referring to a payment of £500, as well as the word "pony", referring to £25, are both believed to derive from the days of Indian 500 rupee and 25 rupee banknotes, which feature pictures of a monkey and a pony respectively.

How much is a trick pony piggy bank worth?

First of all is it a genuine original bank? or a later reproduction? If it is an original then the price really does depend on condition of the castings, ie. no breaks or cracks and the condition of the paint. Is it original paint or has it been "touched up", how much of the original paint is left? Is the rectangular coin trap (only on original banks) still present? does it still have the key? On a specialist internet auction site an original bank in excellent condition with approx 99% of it's original paint and part of it's original wooden box sold for $19,000 US. An original bank with very poor paint and missing coin trap can go for as little as $200 US. A reproduction (poor quality casting, round coin trap) can be bought brand new from ebay from as little as $10 US.
