The 'normal' time for one bank to clear another bank's cheque is three working days. The following table shows the day of deposit, when it would normally clear and the delay if there's a bank holiday... Deposit - Clears - Delay Monday - Thursday - Thursday Tuesday - Friday - Friday Wednesday - Monday - Tuesday Thursday - Tuesday - Wednesday Friday - Wednesday - Thursday Obviously - if there's more than one bank holiday after teh cheque has been deposited, there will be an extra days's delay. In 2015 the Good Friday bank holiday will be held on the 3rd April in the UK. This will be on a Friday, of course.
