If he files his taxes and gets a refund, and it is intercepted, he will get a letter from the IRS stating that his refund is being withheld for child support obligation--thats if they have a current address for him. Once the state of Indiana is in posession of that money,(it can take six weeks or longer for that refund to be intercepted and sent to Indiana's state central collection unit) youll have to wait 29 days before they release that money to you, and theyll take $25 from the pmt for holding it. Ridiculous, I know. The reason why they hold the money for that length of time is to give the non custodial parent a chance to contest the interception of their refund, but my experience dictates that they dont contest it at all.T
There is nothing you can do legally to get that money any sooner, youll have to wait.
