I didn't intend to write about my experience with Comerica Bank. I just wanted to see if I was alone in having a bad experience with them. It started last spring when I signed up for a flex line of credit on my house to consolidate credit. The loan officers were terrible at explaining the terms and scatterbrained when it came to discussing the interest and what the payments would be. I ultimately signed anyway due to convenience and the fact that 6.9 interest is better than what the credit card companies were charging.

After getting screwed out of a $100 perk for opening a checking account because the unknowledgeable staff failed to mention the promotion to me, and several issues with their online banking (their own instructions on how to use online bill pay are incorrect), I've had it up to here. I'm late on paying the flex line because I've gotten the run around from tellers and phone customer service reps. After being blown off at a banking center, being told it would cost me $10 to pay my flex loan over the phone (meanwhile credit card companies and other banks will allow you to do over-the-phone payments free), and waiting two days to find out that their web bill pay service is "hidden" from my use, I've decided to shop for another bank. I plan on moving all deposits, the CD and refi'ing the flex line at another bank or a credit union.

There is so little liquid capital and so many banks in this market right now that it doesn't make sense to do business with such a corporately incompetent outfit.
