Yes and No. If the wife has a legal power of attorney signed over by you, which gives her the right to act on your behalf, then yes, she can open an account in the husbands name without him being present. If there is no power of attorney available, then No, the wife cannot open the account in the husbands name without him being present. Doing so would be illegal and considered forgery.
It is possible to have a mortgage in a different name than a "deed" to a home. You will not be forced to sell the home if you transfer your fathers name from the deed to yours. You may do this at your local recording office and/or also, you may contact a local title company (they can help you). Also, I would send a letter to the lender holding the mortgage...asking to give you rights to speak on your fathers behalf. Please keep in mind that you father will have to sign off on all of the above.
It is called a Power of Attorney. Specifically, if it is designated as a Limited Power of Attorney, the scope of authority granted is limited to the transactions specified in it. If it is designated as a General Power of Attorney, the holder of it may generally do all of those things on behalf of the grantor as the grantor may do for him/herself.

The name Jehovah's Witness comes from the Bible. In Isaiah Jehovah told his people: 'You are my Witnesses' Followers use the name because they believe they are witnessing to others on behalf of Jehovah, much like one would in a court case. They think of themselves as character witnesses for Jehovah against Satan. Jehovah's Witnesses consider it important to share their religious beliefs with others. They also believe that living by their faith should be a way of life, as the bible says it was for Jesus and his disciples.
The "Bible students" as the Witnesses were then known, realised the need to be united under one name and the need to publically the divine name, they thus adopted the name "Jehovah's Witnesses".
Jehovah's Witnesses are called Jehovah's Witnesses. They adopted this name in 1931. See related links for more information.
