I have been in this industry a long time and recognize that a lot of customers do not listen when they are buying. When I say "Based on todays interest rates, you "MAY" have $10,000 in 20 years" the client hears: "You will have $10,000 in 20 years" If you have an illustration showing a guarantee of the promised accrual than you are golden and can uphold the company to the illustration. Check your contract for this illustration. If you missed any payments, took a loan on the money etc., this would also effect your cash value. Does the policy pay dividends? Where is that money going? If you receive a dividend check at the end of the year...that is different from what your agent told you! Things change over the years and memory fades to what we want to remember. This is not to say your original agent wasn't a dirtbag...because he may have been. There were some (captive agent) companies who's general practice was "Screw the customer" That is not the practice of life insurance companies or agents in general and certainly not the practice of 4lifeguild!
