with:
1.Alfonso, Alfie Fanjul (Cuba) $30 Billion.
When the Fanjul family fled from Fidel Castro`s revolution in
1959, they arrived in New York with a strong sense of family, a
hefty financial portfolio and a perfect pedigree as one of Cuba`s
largest and wealthiest sugar plantation families. All that was
missing were the sugar fields.
More than 25 years later, the Fanjuls have come full circle,
reclaiming that legacy.
The family`s privately held company, with thousands of acres of
sugar cane in Florida and the Dominican Republic, is one of the
biggest sugar producers in the world. In addition, the two oldest
Fanjul brothers, Alfonso, who is called Alfie, and Jose, known as
Pepe, with their wives, Tina and Emilia, embody a Latin-style
elegance and panache reminiscent of the high-flying days of Old
Havana.
2. Facundo Bacardi (Cuba) $30 Billion. Bacardi Limited, the
largest privately held, family-owned spirits company in the world,
produces and markets internationally recognized spirits and wines.
Its brand portfolio comprises more than 200 brands and labels,
including the eponymous Bacardi rum.[3] Founded on February 4,
1862, and family-owned for the past seven generations, Bacardi now
employs nearly 6,000 people, manufactures its brands at 27
facilities in 16 markets on four continents, and sells in more than
150 countries. Bacardi Limited refers to the Bacardi group of
companies, including Bacardi International Limited.[4] The company
sells in excess of 200 million bottles per year in nearly 100
countries.[5] The company's sales in 2007 were US$5.5 billion, up
from $4.9 billion in 2006
3.- The Roberto Goizueta family(Cuba): with net worth of about
$1.3 billion, it is the wealthiest Latino family in the United
States, thanks to the success of Roberto Goizueta, a Cuban-American
who became chairman of the Coca-Cola Company.
Goizueta was born in Cuba and trained as an industrial engineer.
He began working for Coke in Havana and later moved to the United
States, rising through the company to become CEO. He died in
1997.
4- The Prudencio Unanue family: with $700 million, they are
descendants of the Spanish immigrant who in 1936 founded Goya
Foods, the top Hispanic food processing and marketing company in
the United States.
Several family members still hold shares in Goya Foods and one
of them, Joseph Unanue, is the current president of the
company.
5- Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García de Estefan, known
professionally as Gloria Estefan & Emilio Estefan(Cuba) Net
worth over $700 Million
Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo was born September 1, 1957 in
Havana, Cuba, to Jose and Gloria Fajardo.Gloria became romantically
involved with the Miami Sound Machine's band leader, Emilio
Estefan, in 1976. As she later revealed, "he was my first and only
boyfriend." She and Emilio married on September 1, 1978.
6- Arturo Torres(Cuba): $190 million. He owns Pizza Hut
restaurants throughout the United States and the Veladi Steak house
chain.
7- Alex Rodriguez: $162 million. One of the top U.S. baseball
players, a member of the Texas Rangers and the only
non-entrepreneur
among the top ten.
8- The Mas family (Cuba): $160 million. The family of the late
Jorge Mas
Canosa, who was chairman of the Cuban American National
Foundation (CANF), the leading Cuban-exile group.
Despite his role as active anti-Castro activist, Mas Canosa
found
the time to do business through his company MasTec, which builds
telecommunications infrastructure.
Following his death in 1997, son Jorge Mas Santos continued at
the head of the foundation and of MasTec, one of the three largest
Latino corporations in the United States.
9- Alicia M. Sanchez: $155 million. She is an entrepreneur and
mother of Tony Sanchez. She manages the International Bancshare
Corporation (IBC), with deposits worth more than $6.3 billion.
IBC is the largest Hispanic-owned bank and is known for
lending
money to small businessmen along the border area, business
considered unprofitable by other banks.
10.Next on the list of richest Hispanics are Lloyd G. Chavez
($150 million), owner of Burt Automotive;
11. Armando Guerra Sr. (Cuba) ($115 million), a banker and the
founder of Sedanos Supermarkets & Pharmacies (Pharmacy division
sold to Navarro), and Associated Grocers.
12. Jorge M. Perez(Cuba), founder of The Relate Group real
estate company ($105 million).
