Depends on the company he works for;

but at least semi formal unless your boss says different.

ANSWERS: Today's work environment has changed since the heyday of men in hats and gray pin stripped suits. In those day's it appears as though those white plastic pocket protectors that came with some companies advertising on it was part of the dress code. Kind of odd since Accountants don't rely on pens as heavily as they rely on pencils. Also, in past times if you were an accountant and wore glasses then you had to wear those thick black framed Buddy Holly glasses, unless you were a woman and then they had to be horn rimmed glasses. Things changed in the sixties and seventies and while it was rare to find an accountant wearing a tie dyed T-shirt and sandals, many began showing up to work in blue jeans and T-shirts of bands like Ozzy Ozborne, or Deep Purple and Pink Floyd or Led Zepplin. In the 80's the television show Miami Vice affected the accountant world dramatically and many of the male accountants of the 80's burned their pocket protectors in protest and demanded more respect, showing up to work in jeans, T-shirt and Armani jackets, wearing deck shoes with no socks and sporting a three day stubble for most of the week. Many accountants are avid Star Trek fans and attend Star Trek conventions religiously and will attempt to show up on "casual Friday's" dressed in Star Fleet Command uniforms with Spock ears. Congress had to pass a law prohibiting this kind of dress for "casual Friday's" as most owners of companies don't really get the whole Star Trek thing and they get Trekkies even less. The rising conflict between accountants and their employers grew so tumultuous that Congress stepped in and passed the Captain Kirk Patriot Act in an effort to appease big business. The battle between accountants and big business only escalated and finally found it's way to the Supreme Court where Chief Justice Roberts recently struck down the Captain Kirk Patriot Act as unconstitutional and it was a victory hailed by accountants across the globe as: "One small step for accountants, one giant step for Trekkies.
