That depends on how you define "banker" and on what scale you define banking itself. Like so many general categories (doctor, lawyer, entertainer), how much you make depends on the area and level of expertise you bring to the position and the size of the market the banker services.

A teller at a small regional bank might make as little as minimum wage, whereas the CEO of a multinational investement banking firm often makes millions each year.

In general, bankers providing commercial services for individual and/or small businesses don't earn a high salary, especially when starting out. However, bankers who provide intensive services (underwriting an initial public stock offering for example) will make far more than the average national wage. Support roles for either will follow a general scale of wage earners with unskilled administration roles earning less and specialized degreed positions earning more (directors, managers, and vice presidents).
