That would depend on where spot gold prices are. Make sure your looking at spot prices not the gold futures market . I am a retail jewelry, coin, and bullion store. Right now gold is at $944 an ounce. We are paying $12-$14 per gram depending on how much you have to sell. Remember that when a store buys your gold, we of course need to make a profit to pay for overhead and salaries, but you also have to take in account that we also need to back up the prices since by law we have to hold the gold for 30 days so it's hard to know where gold prices will be at that time so we are taking a small gamble. There is a range of what we pay because if you have a small amount, we have to add that to other small amount till we have enought to smelt. Depening on the market that make happen quickly or take a couple of months. It's not economical to smelt small amounts since there are fixed costs assoiciated with smelting. Hope this helps
