Currency from the Canal Bank and the Citizen's Bank of New Orleans is fairly common but desirable due to the high quality printing and high grade paper that was used. Some of the paper actually had silk threads present much like the Federal currency a few years later. A $50 Canal Bank note will likely bring anywhere from $ 45.00 to a high of about $ 100.00 depending upon the willingness of the buyer to pay. This would be for an uncirculated unissued note. Prices are quite variable at this time due to an increase in collectors seeking out nice notes and ignorance regarding scarcity. I actually bought this note today for $ 42.00 and felt that was a fair price. BCB
