Norwest Banks absorbed First Minnesota in 1989 or 1990 and has since gone on to become Wells Fargo. I worked in Minnesota Federal's data center and rode out all of the afore mentioned mergers/acquisitions.

The Federal Home Loan Bank Act was passed in 1932 under President Herbert Hoover. Its purpose was to lower the cost of owning a home. It set up the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, which chartered and supervised federal savings and loan institutions.
