Because they want to help the people that they like stop being idiots and figure that out. No offense to the people who know this.
It is just natural. If you feel you have an emotional connection with a person or company, it is easier to do business with them. Also, it is a matter of precedent. Once I find one store I may like, I might not have a need to go elsewhere, and the service might not be as good. Nobody does business with people they don't care for unless there are no alternatives. If hateful people are at City Hall or the post office, for instance, there is nothig you can do about it. But with multiple restaurants, if you don't like the food, the staff, or the management, you can go elsewhere.
