It is possible to have a bat-creature the size of a human and still have it be capable of flight. The majority of the body mass will have to be in wings and pectoral muscles of course, with minimal legs. There have already been birds and flying reptiles larger than human-sized that could fly.

Unfortunately such a creature would need a large environment and committed food-source and in today's world such are not to be found. There is just to much human encroachment. Current times favour the smaller creatures.
