Yes they will puff at anything they feel as a threat. once i got a cut on my thumb and i was feeding him and i had a band aid on and he puffed at that. and if you scare him sometimes he'll puff at that. so anything really that will threaten a beta, they will puff at.
no, beta fish are known to do that as a warning. they probably don't know you and feel threatened.Male beta don't like other males and are known to puff up and fight
Actually, I used to have a Betta Fish... but then it died. If you put a mirror up to them... then they'll start to puff up... and show their fighting technique. I guess that the more you do this the better they'll get.
Many creatures do this when they are threatened or are threatening something else, to make themselves look as big and strong as possible. In nature one or other of the fish would usually back down and swim away after the show off and squaring up.
Simple observation. You will either see them fighting or see the damage on the fish that indicates they have been fighting.
Normal fish do not puff up- only puffer fish.
If a betta's eyes are growing unevenly, it can be caused by a tumor. it can also be caused by a genetic condition.
