Yes, pelicans do dive for fish, but their primary method of fishing involves more of a "scoop" technique rather than a traditional dive. They glide above the water and then plunge down with their beaks open to catch fish in their large pouches. Some species, like the brown pelican, are known for their dramatic dives from the air, while others may fish by swimming and dipping their bills into the water.

Pelicans normally dive in the water when they see fish. Since their mouths are so big, they can catch multiple fish at once.
Pelicans can dive at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour) when they are hunting for fish. They typically perform a dramatic plunge from the air, using their large bills to scoop up prey. Their diving technique is highly effective, allowing them to catch fish with precision.
Yes. They can swim on the water or dive to eat fish.
Pelicans at least.
Yes! They do eat fish
Many birds (Cormorants, Loons, Grebes, pelicans) swoop down and/or dive to catch fish, but few birds pull fish from the water like an eagle. The Osprey is capable of swooping down & catching fish like an eagle.
Fish.
Only White pelicans live ingroups, they can herd the fish to the shore. And then they all grab the fish at the same time. So there is enough fish for all. By: RED
Pelicans eat just fish (not just any meat).
They eat all kinds of fish and crabs and amphibians.
The Pelican will eat seafood. A Pelican will hunt for its prey by flying/soaring above open salt water bodies & rivers. The Pelican will visually search for the proper size victim/fish and dive directly into the water and attempt to capture the potential meal with its large pouched bill. The Pelican will then return to the surface - naturally to breath - and of course, consume the food. I've enjoyed watching the Pelicans in both the Gulf and Bay in Sarasota, FL.
