no
The purpose of a shark's back fin is to help it maintain balance and stability while swimming. It also helps the shark steer and change direction quickly. This fin is crucial for a shark's survival in its natural habitat as it allows the shark to move efficiently through the water, catch prey, and avoid predators.
They move there tail side to side creating a forward thrust movement
it depends on what speice you are talking about for example great whites have to move to breathe and feed
Hammerhead sharks migrate so they can move to warmer climate to breed.
shark rays move with all the currents of the ocean.
It's pretty rare it was first found by an ichthyologist named Joe Quattro on November 7, 2013 in South Carolina, U.S.A. This specie of shark, has in fact long eluded discovery apparently because it is virtually indistinguishable from the common scalloped hammerhead sharks. The rarity of the Carolina hammerhead shark, or, Sphyrna gilberti, is said to underscore the fragility of shark diversity in the face of relentless human predation. The female hammerhead birth their young at the ocean-side fringes of the estuary in South Carolina, the pups normally remaining there for about a year before they grow and thereafter they move out into the ocean to complete their life cycle at sea. Quattro and his team also discovered that the scalloped hammerheads, or Sphyrna lewini, which they were collecting had 2 different genetic signatures in both their mitochondrial and nuclear genomes.
Hammerheads are found worldwide in warm waters along coasts and continental shelves. They can be found in good numbers in Southern & Eastern Africa, Malpelo Island in Columbia, Costa Rica, Hawaii etc. They usually move around in groups and turn solitary hunters at night. They can be found in areas where their favorite prey like fish, squid etc are found in good numbers
